When Two Cats Share One Hammock

When Two Cats Share One Hammock

When Catherine bought a rattan hanging bed for her two furrykids, Oreo and Mochi, she thought it would be a peaceful addition to their playroom — a cozy little swing for their naps.

She was only half right.

Because instead of peacefully sharing it, they started fighting over it.

🐈 Meet the Duo: Oreo & Mochi

Oreo, a sweet-natured ragdoll cat who loves quiet naps, and Mochi, an energetic tabby cat who loves to perform, have been inseparable since they were adopted as kittens—playing together, snuggling together, and even eating from the same bowl.

But the moment the hanging hammock arrived, all bets were off.

“It was instant,” Catherine laughs. “Mochi jumped in first. Oreo sat underneath and stared at him like he’d just stolen his throne.”

😼 A Fight for the Comfiest Spot in the House

What followed was a daily routine of silent standoffs, sneak attacks, and passive-aggressive napping just near the hammock. Eventually, Oreo found a loophole: climbing on top of the hammock while Mochi was inside.

Cue the swinging, the meowing, and the inevitable tumble.

“They’re not really fighting,” Catherine clarifies. “They’re arguing with body language... every single day.”

🛏️ Why the Hammock Was Worth It Anyway

Despite the sibling rivalry, Catherine says the hammock was one of the best purchases she’s made.

Here’s why:

  • Cats love height and motion. The gentle sway mimics movement in nature, soothing for most felines.

  • Breathable for summer naps. The rattan weave keeps airflow up — especially great during hot days.

  • Perfect size for one... or two (if they behave).

  • Looks amazing in any space.  “It’s so pretty, it doesn’t even matter if they’re using it — it’s a piece of decor.”

📸 They Fight, Then They Nap Together

Over time, Oreo and Mochi worked out a kind of schedule — mornings belong to Mochi, afternoons to Oreo, and evenings are... negotiable.

Sometimes Catherine walks into the room to find both curled together inside the hammock like nothing ever happened.

“It’s their favorite place. It’s just also their shared drama stage.”

🐾 Thinking of Getting One for Your Cats?

If you’ve got two cats with big personalities (or one cat who likes to sprawl), a rattan hanging cat hammock might be the most entertaining investment you make this summer.

Just... maybe consider buying two.
